The Farm below the Penteleu Mountain (Ferma de sub Penteleu)
Middle of April found me spending a few days in an iconic village, deeply rooted in Romanian culture and soul. About 3 hours distance from Bucharest, “The Farm” (as its secondary name), greeted us for a couple of days with the vibrancy of a place born out of the love for living the closest to nature and in harmony with it; a place for people looking to immerse themselves into a traditional peasant style accommodation, surrounded by a pure natural landscape.
To me, the harmony I’ve mentioned was the signature of this space. I felt it through the loving smiles of Alex and Vali (makers of the place, a picture with them below) and of the other beautiful caretakers. The Dincă couple have the warmest kind of souls and honestly, after you’ve met them, every remembrance of their spirit lifts your mood.
By their side, both as partners and family friends, you can meet the other beautiful couple invested in the Farm - Cristina & Dan. They’re often amongst the guests, taking care of their well being. The whole team is made complete through the neighbouring villages community: Dani, Monica, Flori, Mirela, Stelica are only a few more that bring life into the holiday village.
The settlement has its own heart, one that vibes equanimity; I felt the mute invitation to take long and slow walks (plus a quick jog) between the several cottages or just outside of the farm's fences.
I actually derived the same enjoyment admiring the village from the nearby hills for a picturesque view by definition. There, we saw the most beautiful sunsets, together with baby Alegria (had one Simba lifting moment).
I also felt the harmony of the Farm seeing the ducks, goats, rabbits and the other animals living there as source for healthy and absolutely delicious traditional Romanian cuisine; felt it through the inside and outside of the beautiful and stunningly looking houses or cottages.
But, most importantly, I’ve felt this harmony through the radiating appearance of all the fellow humans residing in the place, whether working there or just visiting. It was all in the pulse of living on the Farm.
Outside the Farm and along the river, the road takes you near other beautiful and rustic houses owned by residents in the area.
We got increasingly immersed living in the village as the days went by; beautiful accomodation, the worskshops held were a delight for children, just as the campfire party with doughnuts and mulled wine was. Speaking of food again, another highlight of the Farm is definitely its restaurant's drool generating meals. I can honestly say I've hands down eaten the most mouth-watering traditional food, breakfast through dinner, meal by meal, every day. This became my highest reference point for romanian food ever.
Will always cherish memories gained from the Farm, not only because of the experience, but also because of the time spent there with friends and tiny human beings - babies. It is truly a place to enjoy not only as a solo couple, but perhaps especially in groups, as this of course amplifies the great, healing energy of the place among each other.
